Caesar / ROT Cipher

Rotate letters, numbers, or all ASCII characters by a chosen shift.

About this cipher

The Caesar cipher (also called ROT) shifts each letter a fixed number of positions through the alphabet. A shift of 13 is called ROT13 and is its own inverse — encoding and decoding are the same operation.

  • Rot 5: numbers only (0→5, 1→6, …)
  • Rot 13: letters only, the most common variant
  • Rot 18: letters and numbers together
  • Rot 47: rotates all printable ASCII characters
