Cribbage Hand Counter

Count a cribbage hand or crib, with every fifteen, pair, run, flush and nobs listed.

Enter the four cards in the hand and the starter card cut from the deck. Write cards as rank then suit, like 5H JC 10S AD. Suits are optional; without them the count skips flushes and his nobs.

How it works

Fifteens: every different group of cards adding up to 15 scores 2. Face cards count 10 and an ace counts 1. Pairs: every pair of cards with the same rank scores 2, so three of a kind is 6 and four of a kind is 12. Runs: three or more cards in sequence score 1 per card. A duplicated card makes a double run, and each run is counted separately.

Flush: four hand cards of one suit score 4, plus 1 if the starter matches. In the crib, only a five-card flush counts. His nobs: the jack in the hand with the same suit as the starter scores 1.

The best possible hand is 29: three fives and the jack, with the fourth five of the jack's suit cut as the starter. Points for turning up a jack as the starter (his heels) go to the dealer during play, not to the hand, so they are not counted here.
