Sign in to save this cache to your account

Free, just a username and passphrase, no email. Caches you build show up in My Caches so you can reopen and edit them without hunting for the edit link, and watch plays and wins. The same account syncs My Puzzle Texts across devices and manages your short links.

My Caches
Do not put sensitive, personal, or inappropriate content in a cache. Anything you create here is public to anyone with the link, and you are responsible for what you publish. Keep a copy of your edit key, it is the only way to change or delete your cache later.

Play your own cache before you publish it

Settings that look fair in this form can be brutal, or trivial, in the field. Finish the game yourself, start to end, on the kind of device your finders will use, and check that the difficulty, timers, hints, wording, and the final reveal all behave the way you intended. Every cache you create here comes with a play link and an edit link, so you can test it, tune it, and test it again before anyone else sees it.

GeoFriends is a flash mob cache. Get a group of friends to the spot at the same time. You pick the spot, how big the circle around it is, and how many people you want standing in it. Everyone opens your link on their phone and lets the page see their location. When enough people are inside the circle together, the page reveals your final coordinates or a keyword to all of them. Presence is worked out on the server from live GPS, so the answer is never sitting in the page.

Cache

Shown to players as a link to your cache page.

Only the site admin can see this, in case they need to reach you about your cache. Never shown to players.

The meeting spot

Set the spot everyone has to gather at. Drag the pin, click the map, or type coordinates below. The circle is the area that counts as being there, so pick a spot with clear sky and room for a group to stand.

meters

The group

Two is a pair of cachers, four is a nice small meetup, ten or more needs real planning. Everyone counts only while their phone is inside the circle.

Forever is the friendly choice for a normal cache. Locking again makes every group earn it, which suits an event.

When it is live (optional)

Leave both boxes empty and the cache is always armed. Fill them in for an event, and the group can only unlock it inside that window. Times are your own local times.

Strict mode

Strict mode adds peer codes, so nobody can fake a crowd with one phone in their pocket. It also makes the cache much harder to support. Read what it does before you turn it on.

Strict mode is off. Presence is checked by GPS alone.

Advanced presence settings
meters

A phone reporting a fix worse than this is ignored. Lower is stricter, but a bad sky view can leave someone stuck.

seconds

How long someone must be continuously present before they count. This is what stops a car driving past from counting.

seconds

How long the full group must hold together before the reveal unlocks.

Reveal (shown when the group makes it)

Reveal either final coordinates or a keyword

These can be different from the meeting spot above, so the reveal can point somewhere else.

Where can I host images for free?

Paste a direct https:// link to an image. Free image hosts that give a direct link include ImgBB, postimages.org, and Cloudinary. A geocaching.com image link works too. The link must start with https://.

Keep your cache in play to keep it live. Share the play link so people visit it; unused caches are cleaned up over time.
